My Mission

When I opened JRRYoga Studio on November 1st 2018, I knew I wanted to have some sort of  mission statement, a sort of sub-title to my business. Something that let active and potential students alike know what my yoga practice my yoga teaching and yoga studio were about.
I decided on the statement, “All Bodies Are Good Bodies”.
I meant it then, and I mean it now. All Bodies Are Good Bodies. Your Body is a Good Body.
I want people inhabiting any and every body to feel comfortable in my yoga space. To feel welcomed. To feel at home. To feel safe. To feel like the things that make them who they are will be celebrated and accommodated in their yoga practice.
So often you are told that your body is too much of one thing, or not enough of another thing.
In my yoga practice, in my teaching, in my studio my goal is to help you realize that what you are, who you are, is enough. You are enough. Your body is a good body.
My goal is for JRRYoga to be a  place for everyone to mindfully move their bodies, quiet their minds, and engage in the study of yoga and the study of self.
So often the things you are told about your body being “wrong” in some way or another stick with you, they poison your brain against your body, they poison your thoughts against your own mental health.
Your body is a good body.
We are sold the story that only bodies that look a certain way are valuable. That story is wrong.

So lets get it straight.

Your body is a good body.

Black bodies are good bodies.
Aging bodies are good bodies.
Queer bodies are good bodies.
Feminine bodies are good bodies.
Brown bodies are good bodies.
Masculine bodies are good bodies.
Indigenous bodies are good bodies.
Fat bodies are good bodies
Trans bodies are good bodies.
Disabled bodies are good bodies.
Gender non-conforming bodies are good bodies.

Your body is a good body.

About Me

My name is Jamie, I am a massage therapist and yoga teacher in Hutchinson, Minnesota. My massage career began in 2007 when I graduated with an Associates Degree and Certification in Massage Therapy. Since then I have gained training and certifications in Reiki (level 1 and 2) Thai Yoga Massage, Cupping Therapy, Kinesiology Taping, Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization, as well as continued education in general massage practices and techniques.

In 2012 I completed my 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training through Devanadi Yoga in Minneapolis Minnesota and have continued my yoga education over the years through continued training at Devanadi, my own personal practice, and book studies. In addition I have certification in Unnata Aerial Yoga, though do not currently have a space where I teach this.

In early 2021 I completed my 300 Hour Yoga Teacher Training through Ignite Yoga and Wellness with Susanna Barkataki and her team of teachers, including my mentor Naomi King. This training has a focus on authentic yoga teachings and honoring the roots of yoga, as well as yoga as a liberation practice.
This brings me to a Yoga Alliance RYT 500 status. (Registered Yoga Teacher at 500 hours of training - not including other continuing education). In addition I studied with Dianne Bondy and Amber Karnes in their 35 hour training, Yoga for Everyone.

I am currently (slowly) working my way through an additional 300 hour training through Yoga Medicine with a focus on anatomy and mental health and wellness within the scope of yoga.

I have a great fondness for Partner Acrobatics and have been practicing and teaching with Acro Yoga Minneapolis since spring 2012.

I feel that the combination of my studies and my experience within each area have given me a unique perspective and ability to work with the body in a well rounded way. This allows me to customize bodywork and self-care to benefit each client and yoga student as an individual.

My goal is to make a space where I can share my knowledge of yoga, bodywork, self-care, and wellness practices with those that need it. I hope to offer content that is accessible to folks no matter their experience, mobility, or economic standing. I feel that self-care is important, and sharing the tools to those that would use them is worthwhile.
